InBody FAQ – Your Questions Answered
What can I expect during my InBody reading appointment?
During your appointment, you will step onto the InBody device and hold the hand electrodes while the scan takes place. The process is quick, non-invasive, and takes less than a minute.
Once complete, you’ll receive a detailed body composition report, and one of our specialists will review the results with you, offering personalized insights and recommendations based on your health goals.
How is InBody different from a regular scale or BMI measurement?
Unlike a traditional scale, which only provides total body weight, or BMI, which doesn’t distinguish between muscle and fat, InBody gives a detailed breakdown of your muscle mass, fat percentage, water balance, and more. This allows for a more accurate assessment of your overall health and fitness progress.
Do I need to prepare for my InBody test?
For the most accurate results, we recommend:
- Hydrating well before your test
- Avoiding large meals and caffeine at least 2-3 hours before your scan
- Wearing light, comfortable clothing
- Removing metal accessories such as jewelry or belts
- Avoiding intense exercise just before the scan, as it can temporarily affect results
For the most accurate results over time, try to schedule your InBody assessments under similar conditions—such as time of day, hydration level, or even cycle timing for women. This helps ensure a consistent baseline for comparison.
Is the InBody test safe?
Yes! The InBody scan is completely safe and non-invasive. It uses low-level bioelectrical impedance, which is painless and has no side effects. However, individuals with pacemakers or medical implants should consult with their doctor before taking the test.
How often should I take an InBody test?
For the best tracking of your progress, we recommend testing every 2-4 weeks. This frequency allows you to monitor changes in muscle, fat, and water levels and adjust your fitness or nutrition plan accordingly.
Who can benefit from InBody analysis?
Anyone looking to gain a deeper understanding of their health and fitness can benefit, including:
- Athletes & fitness enthusiasts tracking muscle growth and performance
- Individuals managing weight loss or fat loss goals
- Those monitoring metabolic health and visceral fat levels
- Aging adults focusing on muscle preservation
Does InBody measure visceral fat?
Yes, InBody provides a visceral fat analysis, helping assess fat stored around internal organs. High visceral fat levels are linked to health risks such as diabetes and heart disease, making it an important metric for long-term wellness.
Will my results be stored so I can track my progress over time?
Yes! Your results can be saved and compared over time to help you track improvements in muscle mass, fat loss, and hydration levels. You’ll also receive a printout of your results for personal reference.
Can I use InBody if I have medical conditions?
InBody analysis is generally safe for most individuals. However, if you have a pacemaker, medical implants, or are pregnant, we recommend consulting your healthcare provider before taking the test.
